All your energy disappears on keeping yourself going, there is very little left for anyone else. When you spend time with others, it is a struggle to be present because of your own feelings.
When you feel down, it’s harder to think clearly or logically, this is because a depressed brain is a stressed brain. Depressed people also have higher than normal levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their bloodstream, which is why calming down and relaxing is so important. When your brain is stressed, you simply can’t think properly.
